Camera History and Information

Here are some facts about the camera:

1.  The camera obscura effect is when in a dark room a small hole is made in one of the walls and through the hole light is focused, and the outside scene is projected upside down on the opposite wall.

2.  During the 17th century Isaac Newton and Christian Huggens perfected the understanding of optics and the process of making high quality glass lenses which helped man get a step closer to creating the modern camera.

3.  A glass lens, a dark box, and film were the parts of the first modern camera by Niepce.

4.  Light passing through the lens into the camera and exposing the film is what Niepce's camera and the modern camera have in common.

5.  Digital camera's use an electronic sensor called a CCD to capture and image.

6.   The difference between auto mode and program mode is when the camera is in auto mode, it controls all of the flash and exposure, and in program mode you can control the flash and a few other camera settings.

7.    The portrait mode is used to try to blur out the background and it uses the fastest available lens setting.

8.  The sports mode is used to freeze motion and uses the highest shutter speed possible.

9.  When you half press the shutter button is makes the camera have a faster response time, more control over focus, and encourages better composition.

10.   This symbol means disable flash or no flash and you use it whenever there is enough natural light and you don't want to use the flash.

11.  This symbol means auto flash, and it is when the camera will automatically fire if it thinks that the picture needs more light.

12.  The photo will be washed out if there is too much light.

13.  The photo will be too dark if there is not enough light.

14.  A stop is a relative change in light.

15.  How many stops brighter is the new planet if there are two sons instead of one?
+1 stop

16.  How many stops brighter is the new planet if there are four sons instead of two?
+2 stops

17.  The effect that a longer shutter lens has is more light.

18.  The effect that a shorter shutter speed has is less light.

19.  The aperture controls the light that goes on the film.

20.  When adjusting the aperture you can increase the amount of light by telling the camera to use smaller f-stop numbers.

Red, Metal, Happy

 Red
The main rule I achieved in taking this photo I think was the rule of thirds because I managed to take this photo without the subject being right in the center.
 Metal
I think the rule I achieved in this photo was simplicity because the background is not busy and the subject of this photo is up close where you can tell what it is, which is the lock.
Happy :D
I think the rule in this photo is balance because the color and the way the people in the picture are standing help to make the photo seem more balanced.

Camera Vocabulary

Vocabulary:

These are some camera vocabulary terms and definitions that you should know if you want to work with a professional camera.

Electromagnetic Spectrum- range of all possible frequencies of electromagnetic radiation

Diaphragm- Thin structure with opening at the center to stop the passage of light

Image sensor- Device that converts the optical image into electrical signal

Visible Spectrum- The portion of elecrtomagnetic spectrum visible to the human eye

Shutter- Device that allows light to pass for a determined period of time

Exposure- Amount of light allowed to fall on each area unit of a photographic medium during the process of taking a photograph

Depth of Field-  Distance between nearest and farthest objects in a scene

F Stop- The measure of the aperture setting on a lens

Focal Length- Distance between center of lens and sharp image projected by it

This is a picture of the T3 Canon Rebel,it has many different buttons that do many
different things, such as the shutter button, the on and of switch, and the lens realese button.
