IMOGEN CUNNINGHAM

Imogen Cunningham was born April 12, 1883, and died June 24, 1976.  She was born in Portland Oregon and graduated at the university of Washington in Seattle.  She got inspired to take up photography during college by an encounter with Gertrude Kasebier and she began to study the chemistry behind photography with the help of her chemistry professor Dr. Horace Byers.  She opened her first studio in Seattle in 1910.
