Cover Designs

1. Early Magazine Covers- The first magazine covers look nothing like the ones we have today some magazines and newspapers even had no covers. They don't have pictures on them at all, just the title of the magazine and a table of contents.  There was also nothing to give away what the articles in the magazine were about.  As time went on though, graphics were starting to become more  popular to be on magazines and eventually people were starting to wonder if they should even put lines and just leave the cover with a picture.

2. The Poster Cover-  These covers have very little words and the picture usually conveys a certain emotion instead of a story inside the magazine.  These covers did not give any hint to what was inside and with no words to tell you, you would just have to guess.  These type of covers are usually found on art and travel magazines now and aren't very popular anymore.

3. Pictures Married to Type-  People use these covers to help the reader be more interested in the subject and want to read more in case the picture alone doesn't intrigue you.  It also helps with the depth of the cover, by putting the models head in front of the title and that helps to make the model look closer.  The lines also inform you more about the contents of the magazine and who took the picture.

4. In the Forest of Words- These magazine covers have become very prominent now on newsstands at the store.  Because of the the words on these covers though, it has caused the model to withdraw and make the words the main part of the cover.  Having the wards the main part causes the reader to be more immersed in the topic of the lines and articles.
