1. Make your cover stand out, try to get the design to go with the subject.
2. Go to a local grocery store and put your cover on the shelf to see if it disappears or stands out.
3. If the cover stands out from it's background, don't ruin it by trying to come up with something new.
4. Get the customer to want to buy it, make it interesting.
5. Make it easy to quickly look at.
